I'm wondering what the sq. footage of a typical store is in Finland or the EU? Example an ~24,000 sq ft Best Buy here in the States.

Not typical, but biggest store in Finland is Stockmann Helsinki Department Store, 540,000 sq ft.

IIe - Yes we have the large Warehouse type stores as well. A nearby Wal-Mart that has 250,000 sq ft, grocery area. At the time the store was built, it was the largest Grocery store west of the Mississippi.

I'm hoping that Helge will chime in here as well. I'm thinking that the Future Store Concept will led itself to smaller stores and yet maybe we need to think way outside the box and look into a large warehouse type of Retail Facility.

Prisma in Kannelmäki, Helsinki covers about 215,000 sq ft, of which about 60,000 sq ft is for groceries. They are now planning to almost double the total area (again).
