My 6 months old baby has made me interested in words meaning "mother" and "father" in different languages.

"Mama"/"mamma" and "papa"/"pappa" are very common words for parents in several languages. "Abu" means "father" in arabic. These all are the kind of "sounds" pretty much all babies babble when they are only just practicing different sounds and are still far from speaking. (Actually to my ear it sounds like my baby is repeating "a-puu-ah, a-puu-ah" (apua = help) constantly <:D )
I wonder if for instance "häy" or "y-äh" mean anything in some language/-s? I should find some time to search for words for "mother" and "father" in other languages.

"per" and "pier"(like pear) for father and "mar" (like mar'tyr) for mother,
