Teemul

@pni did you wonder what is the tent? Did you make any wild guessing?

People need more places to wait (not only the shopping center)

Hmm, tent as a non-commercial place to hang out

@Teemul well there's quite often some kind of tents behind lasipalatsi, so I didn't react strongly to the tent (but obviously I do remember it). I thought it was there for selling some political or religious points of view...

pni commented on posted to #OPEN2009 06.11.2009 (en)

Teemul

@troppone tent without commercial, political or religious propaganda.

More non-commercial public places please!

@pni ha ha ha! Yes that is what the tents are associated inmediatly with in Helsinki.. such a pity

@andreuchis Maybe I'd become a video star if I'd stepped in :)

But what do you call that?! How can city fund some tent or space that it can't define or catagorize? Which organisation should enable these spaces?

andreuchis

@pni lost 5 min of fame... now reconsider next time you see a tent around

andreuchis commented on posted to #OPEN2009 06.11.2009 (en)

@troppone the city of course!

@andreuchis I certainly will. Tent-a-mania here I come.

@andreuchis The city sure, but which organisation within that?!?! It's tough to argument spending of money when you don't have a budget place for it. (We've noticed this in #SOMUS project in certain cases)

Let's create a website tent-in-every-street-corner.org and ask people to do the "kaljakellunta" in the street corners by asking people to set-up a tent in their street corner to have dialogue - no beer, no water. The moderator in the tent could then report the discussions in the website.

@teemul I was also thinking about an Aalto tent (for other purposes), just as a test to see whether people want to come and discuss, and to see what Aalto authorities would say about using e.g. the logo :)
