Aaand we're back.

The update consists of some of the things posted over at the bot thread.

  • FOLLOW radar and channel are live
  • HELP command for a list of commands (in case you forget),
  • PING command for testing if the bot is actually alive,
  • And then we have a lot of improvements in the bot logic:
  • replies to users can be sent with @nickname prefixed messages
  • if your jabber client supports XHTML-IM protocol, you will see nicely formatted messages and you will be able to click on the message author's name to see the message on the web.

good work!

...though, I'm not 100% happy about that QAIKU prefix for posting new messages. Those uppercase commands are a real bother to write on a mobile device.

wow, this is evolving really fast.

Could it be possible for the FOLLOW command to display your follow list if invoked without arguments?

@prometheus: hmm... I'm getting qaikus to my IM that I cannot see on the site. Privacy issues?

nikc commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

prometheus

@nikc Where do they come from? Either way, if the API is sending back Qaikus that you shouldn't see.. well.. we have a problem ;)

Bear with us, rolling another change in per @bergie's request.

@prometheus well, I'm seeing some Qaikus from @eholmila, that I cannot see on the site.

nikc commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

eholmila

@nikc, how are they starting so i can double check theis status.

eholmila commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

prometheus

Okay folks, so QAIKU prefix is no longer used for posting new Qaikus, you do it as was it was done before, by just typing a message to the bot (ping @bergie)

prometheus commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

bergie

@nikc also, which FOLLOW are you using?

bergie commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (en)

nikc

@prometheus @bergie, @eholmila: I'm using FOLLOW stream and FOLLOW @eholmia. The last qaiku started "mulla jäi nyt sellainen käsitys".

nikc commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

eholmila

is it possible to delete qaiku? If not, i think it would be quite useful if we'll go without the prefix

eholmila commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

prometheus

@eholmila I think that will get added in the next update, if we can just figure out a sensible way of doing it, I guess it should delete the last Qaiku you posted.

@nikc selvitellään... ilmeisesti @tepheikk :n koodissa (prepare_userstream_qb) joku härö

bergie commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

nikc

Yes, UNQAIKU :-)

nikc commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

eholmila

i think that's a good approach to delete function.

Also it seems something might be leaking a bit (my comments that is), so let's take bot down for a while.

eholmila commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (fi)

prometheus

@eholmila the leak is in qaikuacl, so little we can do about it on bot or API level. Pinging @tepheikk

eholmila

yes i know, it seems that for some reason the acl differs a bit. Eg. It's working correctly on the main site.

eholmila commented on posted to #Qaiku 25.06.2009 (en)

tepheikk

@eholmila ALC's should have worked. There is a bug in deeper level than in my code. I changed the implementation and we test now if it helps.
