if @janole implements Qaiku in Gravity, how many purchases of Gravity can we offer him?

My proposal: must have adequate support for threads (1 level of hierarchy, twitter has 0), channels like Twitter searches.
Location not required. Not very used in Qaiku. Jaiku r.i.p., i sure don't mind the idea of location awareness but some cell-id or gps is the way to go with that.
What else? I think that's about it for now. There aren't going to be very many people joining this microcampaign, so we cannot ask too much. I already paid for Gravity, what does that make of me? I'm crowdsourcing ppl on Qaiku to invest in features i would like to see in a program i like and hope others would like too. I'm a weasel or a hero? Bit of both, i hope :)
I thought the Gravity support was under work already, @samikki qaikued about it some time ago .
Hopefully it will happen; at least the implementation should be relatively easy for @janole as the api is compatible with the twitter api. We have had some minor bugs with the api, but @bergie has fixed 'em.
edit: in that thread i linked at least @samikki and @jal were interested on buying Gravity.
@eholmila if I understood correctly, there was a little complication related to the fact that Twitter uses integers for message IDs and we use GUIDs in #Qaiku-api. With most applications this isn't an issue, and that way our clients avoid issues like twitapocalypse.
The other thing is that Midgard GUIDs are replication safe unlike IDs, which will be good if Qaiku needs to scale to multiple servers or start providing some Midgard-based offline clients.
Okay, so the Gravity would need a bit more tweaking to get it working with Qaiku? In that case let's hope that @janole will see it worth of his time and all the interested ppl will show up here as well. I might be interested to get one as well, but i have to take a bit deeper look at it first.
And needles to say, i think we will gladly assist with the questions related to api and so and try to make the implementation as easy as we in any way can.
@eholmila yeah i remember qaiku-support has been rumoured of before. I was one who said i'll buy Gravity if Qaiku gets implemented.
I haven't seen any verification of the support being implemented, and a little encourage is maybe needed :) We will also hopefully hear if Qaiku is not in the plans of @janole.
I want to put (at least a little part of) my money where my mouth is as support little projects, and buying software from the net. I'm not being an FOSS-fundamentalist this time. And honesty i think Gravity is a nice program indeed.
same as @jal . And I believe that qaiku support for existing gravity users would be good client servicing, which is important too. Maybe it's even important with software, which license system is based on imei locking, so people will buy it again when switching a phone.
@mace I completely agree with you. On the other hand I can donate to foss devs and buy inexpensive and good software if the need and functionality can be justified. Like Gravity. It seems so not S60 software and works like a charm, but I don't have use for it without Qaiku support. Still the imei locking sucks badly but it's understandable for mobile software and when the price isnt too high.
@mandrl i'm not so keen on Twitter myself, and if we'll get a nice mobile client for Qaiku, i might stop using Gravity for Twitter and use it only for Qaiku. Of course Twitter has some advantages too, like a wider user-base and a better known brand.
@mace Yep. Paypal seems to be most common method. Almost every foss-project hassi Pyapal's donate button. I'm in the process of listing projects for which I will donate sooner or later. The most important criteria is how usefull the project hassi been for me:)
Actually just realised that Gravity could have a quite good market opportunity with qaiku users as the majority of users are finns == majority of users use s60 phones == native s60 client without any competition would be at the minimum in quite good position to sell more than a few units.
who? me selling and marketing qaiku opportunity here? nooooo :)
Sent another email to @janole to check if the issue he had with API (using Midgard GUIDs instead of integers for message IDs) still is a blocker, and whether we should do something with it on the #Qaiku-api end.
