Qaiku | #Qaiku | People needed for translating Qaiku interface.

For some time we have been working to make Qaiku more useful for people from around the world. At the moment we have Qaiku translated in English and Finnish. The next major step would be translating Qaiku to as many different language as possible. This, however, cannot be done without your help. This is why we are now asking, are you willing to participate in the process of translating Qaiku to your language?

Requirements for the person willing to contribute

Native speaker of the language in question (Hopefully you currently live in the area on which the language is being used, but if you don't, you can still qualify if you are certain of your knowledge on all the current flavors and quirks of the language)
Fluent English (all the translations are done from English to your language)
Basic knowledge of concepts and terms used in website interfaces (Qaiku is a website, so it's very practical to know the basic concepts of a website interface such as form, authentication, header, navigation, etc. to ease up communication. Nothing fancy thou, just basic stuff)
Willingness and ability to participate continuously for some time (at least several months). After the first set of translations, new stuff will be introduced on weekly basis. Usually it doesn't mean lots of work, only a couple of new words maybe, but still the work must be done to ensure that translations are up to date.

At the moment Qaiku is not making us any money so we can not offer much in return. This is what we can promise for those who participate

Creditation on one of our information pages (as soon as we get them online)
Contributor status on home page
Happiness from knowing that your language is well translated in Qaiku :-)
Beta-tester access rights and the possibity to sneak-preview all Qaiku's new features at very early stage.
Our great appreciation and thanks

The work is done with a tool inside Qaiku webpage so no additional software is needed. We'll tell more about these things to those who will participate. Also, the work is not starting immediately, maybe after a few weeks or so. We just need to start collecting participants now.

@BUGabundo I understand that nobody can be doing this kind of free work all the time, so at least we're going to try to make the process as easy as possible. The initial amount of translations will be somewhere near 750 but one must remember that most of these are just one or two word pieces that are very quick to translate.

My estimation is that the initial work takes an evening or two and after that it takes only 5-10 minutes per week (on average) to do the job. Also we're going to make it so that the untranslated items will be shown in English so it's not a serious problem if there are breaks in translation process once in a while.

@smallone Yep, I think I will inform everyone by creating a channel for translation stuff when it's time for it.

@alexz Thanks for volunteering. There can be more than one translator per language. You must just make sure you are not working at the same time with same items.

@solt I recall you might have said in some Qaiku thread that you'd be willing to translate. Can I still count on you with Polish?
