wouldn't really want to go there as good links should get the attention they deserve. There's still a couple of little things that we can do to slow up their registration process and make qaiku a bit less attractive because of that. We'll add these as soon as possible and see if it helps at all.

certain kinds of links, not all of them. There's a distinct pattern with the current spammers that I can see pretty offhand immediately - they use co.cc tld. Currently such spammers are taking my whole Pulse page altogether. And this isn't unique situation, I check it atleast once a day.

atm we are getting a bit of hammering, hope to make it a bit harder fo them soon. if thath doesn't help, we'll have to think about other possibilities. wouldn't really want to start analyzing the content of messages to find spammy links for now, but if other measures don't help we might just have to do it.

We did some improvements, let's see how they work. They are a bit proactive but won't stop all the spammers, but we'll keep deleting them the moment we notice 'em. And hopefully these solutions will slow them down enough not to bother, though. We'll be also adding 'report as a spammer' button as soon we have some time to make it happen (this vacation time is always a bit challenging..)

@TomiS that much is evident - the bots that spam with comments are a clear evidence that someone has made a tool for spamming specifically Qaiku. If you check the newly registered users, there's always atleast 4-5 of 25 visible that have a username that fits the pattern of these spammers.

That's interesting. I happened to look at the history of our current spammer, and first message he wrote mentioned a link building service. It would appear that these spammers might be employed by the company mentioned on the website the message links to. Perhaps you should do some IP address datamining and see if there are emerging patterns that would explain the spammers?

@myrtti, thank you for all of your effort on this subject - we really appreciate it! And yes, we have some new plans to further prevent spammers getting on their way and already the taken steps have clearly reduced the spam (even if at times it might feel that they have not), but no, we haven't been able to completely eliminate it, yet.

We are atm gathering information of the content of the spammy qaikus and spammy users so we should be able to make some mining as soon as we got a full working day to do this. The bright side of the matter is of course that the material is building up all the time.
