how can I know how many times a given post has been red? Do I need a plugin to do that?

Maybe you should just put google analytics to your blog? It gives all the stats you would ever want to get and then some. Anyway, if I remember correctly there's no stats page in wp's standard intallation, so you have to either go with the GA or install some plugin (but there's plenty of those out there).

WP-PostViews should do the trick

thanks @aolivato, I'll try ;) I also have Google Analytics, but I admit I find the interface a little difficult to navigate. Just too much information, for my needs...

@aolivato well I have downloaded and activated the plugin. Maybe I am not so smart (more than possible, after a good lunch !), but it's not clear to me where I can read statistics... or I'm supposed to modify by hand my theme to allow the plugin to work? Thanks in advance........

@mcastel I manually edited the theme adding this < ? php if(function_exists('the_views')) ? > inside wordpress loop.

Anyway if you want to know that statistic you might use Koego, a new analitycs web service created only for bloggers. Easy to setup and to use, very user friendly and clean interface...That should work fine for you as it easily shows you page views and unique visitors for each article/page/tag/category... have a look

@aolivato is koego more friendly than Google Analytics?
I'm going to give it a try... Thanks for the suggestion ;)

@mcastel yes, a lot...it's very easy to use! It has a bit less data perhaps, but you can access everything so much easier...

@aolivato thanks. In fact, Analytics has (so to say) too much, for my needs. Just inserted the code of koego, they say I'll wait tomorrow for first results... let's see ;)
