Muutama sana matkailusta. Alan ihmisten mielestä Venäjältä tarjolla olevat matkailurahat eivät kiinnosta ketään. "Venäjä ei tarvitse Suomea, mutta Suomen matkailuelinkeino kyllä tarvitsee Venäjää", totesi Eino Siuruainen Rokuan matkailuseminaarissa. Uutta ajattelutapaa tarvitaan, rajan takana olevia mahdollisuuksia ei tiedosteta.

  • opiskele Venäjän historiaa
  • viime vuodenvaihteessa venäläiset toivat Suomeen sata miljoonaa euroa
  • suuremmat rahat olisivat uloottuvilla
Muitakin ottajia on, jos ruplat eivät suomalaisille kelpaa.

Suomalainen arki kiinnostaa matkailijoita. Kuhmossa etsitään koko ajan koteja, joihin voi viedä matkailijoita vierailulle. Sveitsiläisryhmä tulossa pyöräilemään kylästä kylään; poiketaan paikalliseen kotiin päiväkahville. Jotkut haluavat oppia perinneruokien tekoa.

Dialogue resembles a number of other forms of group activity and may at times include aspects of them but in fact it is something new to our culture. We believe that it is an activity that might well prove vital to the future health of our civilization. http://www.david-bohm.net/dialogue/di... (1991)

Kohta suurkuvavideon jakeluun on olemassa riittävän tukevat verkot.

The 5T salesman on the road. @paulswansen How would you translate 5T into English?

Tavoite = Goal
Tieto = Knowledge
Tunne = Feelings, emotions
Tahto = Will power
Toiminta = Action

My first attempt was to coin it to 5D

DESTINATION
DATA
DESIRE
DEDICATION (OR DETERMINATION)
DO-IT (we even get IT into the formula)

What do you think?

visualradio commented on posted to #digitalvillages 24.03.2011 (en)

visualradio

A traditional way to look at TIETO and TUNNE (knowledge and feelings) is to give a blue card for the knowledge player and a red one for the feelings participant. People will approach a problem or search a solution based on these roles.

DESTINATION (a combination of colors)
DATA (blue card)DESIRE (red card)
DEDICATION (green card)
DO-IT (yellow)

@HeikkiHallantie are the colors right?

I've been formulating a start-up service package for a training day

  • One hour for each color ( = 5h)
  • 2 - 3 hours to integrate all the ideas
One working day = 8 h

What could be the price of such a session?
  • 1 000 euro per 5T consultant per day plus traveling expenses
  • What do you think?
What about a 5 day in-depth problem solving in a company with 2 consultants leading the process of microanalyzis and integration of ideas using 5D and other problem solving tools?

Once we're able to define, describe and visualize the goal (destination) or problem we want to solve, half the challenge is won, since we have defined the end result of the activity (Do-it) and we can find the path to follow and the means to attain the goal.

  • Optimistic goal (vision or dream come true)
  • Realistic goal (considering strengths and weaknesses)
  • Difuse gola (no idea what kind of problem we're solving)
Where should we go FISHING?

The One day pricing for a single consultant looks good. There are some things that need to be set prior to a visit by one of our consultants to a client.

The 5 day training with 2 consultants or more would be a premium service offered to those clients that we have done work for previously.

I think the pricing should be as the daily rate with a discount for paid in full within 15 days.

Let me give some background about 5T. We've used it since 1987 as a tool to analyze a problem and in training sessions.

  • high-tech companies
  • health care problem solving
  • pulp, paper, sawmills, bioenergy
  • large and small enterprises
  • public and private organizations
But it was used as a back-offie tool to analyze interviews or discussion responses. There is a much broader application space in problem solving sessions and in training seminars.
  • 5T is easy to learn and understand
  • The tool can become an integral part of organization culture after initial use and training
The new idea of using it as an ACTIVE teamworking tool started to materialize last year.

We've integrated 5T to a component of Digital Villages. I think that it's better to focus on 5T and the other tools in the box can wait until we get 5T moving.

We could figure out how the VIRTUAL SUPPORT organization should act to support individual 5T trainers.

@digitalvillages I am testing 5T with cardboard models in the SoMeTime2011
preparation process. We have to keep in mind that human brain is much more
complex than any models we can invent. I find 5T with colors useful. To me yellow
meaning will, destination and green meaning action work well. Green as a symbol
of action softens action and symbolizes also greenlife as new way of life in the future.

The pricing of 5T consultancy is on the right level to my mind.

@HeikkiHallantie You're right about the complexity of the human brain. The concept 5T was invented 1987 to take out complexity from consulting and problem solving situations: to understand the essentials in a shorter time and to give the particiapants a kind of mental GPS to stay on the map.

jtunkelo

@visualradio Without knowing the intricacies of your training or your offer... how's this:

  • Send out a survey to prospects, ask about their specific problems. Then you know exactly how to answer them, where to start and where to lead them.
  • Based on those answers, create a new presentation that stretches out the concept into actionable reality. Some promise, even big promise.
  • Stop relying on SlideShare alone, it's ad infested and kind of limited.
  • Create a real narrative (audio+video) around the presentation, using ScreenFlow/Camtasia
  • Put it on a real, dedicated landing page, use Optimizepress or similar to make it look good fast
  • Give them a first taste of what you offer; case studies, free sample (perhaps a clip from a training session) - then they'll start coming to you.
  • Create a real online sales funnel around it; email followup, various different offers, etc.
It takes some effort to create a targeted 'pull' marketing situation, especially online, but it's well worth it when you get to focus on the customer alone...

That's how I sees it, anyways. :)

jtunkelo commented on posted to #digitalvillages 26.03.2011 (fi)

@jtunkelo Thanks for very good and practical advice. The idea is to popularize the use of 5T that has been a back-office problem solving tool at KK-Net since 1987. A mental tool to approach complex and chaotic situations and to squeez out the the essential from information gathering situations and interviews. It can also be used in role-plays where participants take different roles: tieto, tunne, tahto, tavoite toiminta... the English version we call 5D data desire determination destination do-it. We've used it since 1987 as a part of a hidden-agenda (a mental toolset for problem solving) @HeikkiHallantie created the colored hat with roses and uses it in setting the goals and program for Sometime2011.

  • The example slideshare is a prototype and used to analyze a specific customer situation
My first 5T sosiodrama presentation was used at #Qelluntai last summer in Lepa: Heikki ja Jarmo participate. The concept is easy to use and it intrigues me if we can make this to a network-supported open source money-making tool for users. There is no copyrights. Could it become an easy-to-use ABC for problem solvers and team performance developers. The key is PARTICIPATION - not just to listen but all the participants can bring their effort to problem solving. 5T keeps the user on the path to the GOAL.

Would you like to become a part of 5T / 5D users group and bring your expertise into the creation of a network generated genervice service for problem solving and creative change management?

visualradio

Here is my analyzis of this thread using 5T / 5D

TAVOITE (destination, goal)
- to create a generic problem solving and training tool

TIETO (data, knowledge)
- long back-office history of 5T
- new sosiodrama testing summer 2010
- @HeikkiHallantie creation of color-pyramid-hat with roses represnting TAVOITE
- @HeikkiHallantie using color-wild-cards to generate ideas for Sometime2011
- @paulswansen brings over-seas comments and the need for a VIRTUAL SUPPORT TEAM to assist 5T users (field and action support)
- @ConnectIrmeli informs she want to participate
- @Jal has made several Sometime2011 videos with 5T in focus
- @jtunkelo advice about how to get data (problems) from potential clients and how to market

TUNNE (desire, feeling)
- subjective feeling that people find 5T easy to use and understand
- positive comments from participants at #Qelluntai and #Sometime2011
- we need more hands-on experience data

TAHTO (determination, will power, dedication)
- the Finnish meaning of "tahdon" plays an important / significant role: we can make this to a cash-flow machine if we want (we say "tahdon" - I will take this person as my wife / husband - in front of the preist / pastor when getting married )

TOIMINTA (do-it, action)
- execution is the king, we've to do it to make our dreams and visions come true
- singel-minded focus on doing the things needed to get engaged and happy customers
- we need to build customer relations to potential 5T clients
- sugggest industries, user groups that would help us to move to the goal

5T / 5D is cool, easy to use, easy for any client to adapt and to integrate as a part of the corporate culture. When and where can it be applied?

  • chaotic and complex problem solving situation
  • building a winning team with high-tech and high-touch mindset for excellence
  • 5T works in the wilderness or adapted to mobile distributed problem solving
  • open innovation and co-creation
  • works in small and large organizations
  • it's a generic problem solving tool
  • kids can use it: the color coded hats and wild cards can become kindergarden gaming tools
A VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP provides support to those who use 5T in the field or training situations

EXAMPLE: This is a short description from The European Information Society

EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT - ICT for Energy Efficiency - Sharing best practices - 14 April 2011 Brussels, Belgium. This workshop is organised in the framework of the EU Sustanaible Energy Week. Local or regional representatives interested in ICT solutions for Smart Cities and Regions are invited to participate. The results of a study on initiatives related to the contribution of ICT to energy efficiency at local and regional level will be presented. Particular attention will be given to the guide/toolkit with information about relevant case-studies and specific recommendations for policy makers at local and regional level. A wiki-type website, aiming to facilitate a continuous best practices sharing process, will be presented. These presentations will be followed by a discussion on the main findings and recommendations of the study.

HELGE: This is a typical PRESENTATION where hundreds of people are listening to powerpoint presentations. With 5T the session could be broken into workshops with a learning by doing approach. The participants of traditional seminars (one to many) will fly home and of course they can use the wiki to comment, but they seldom do. Instead they go to the next and to the next seminar and very seldom return to the stuff presented. We could provide a very different model for learning and information adaption through high-touch participation. The information can be delivered to the participants as DATA and DESIRE comments including DESTINATION and how to DO-IT.

EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT - Employer Forum on Accessibility in the Workplace - 29 March 2011 Brussels, Belgium. This event will bring together employers, Non Governmental Organisations and advocacy groups working on accessibility in the workplace, promoting employability for people with disability and a more diverse and richer workforce. The event will provide an open forum for discussion, showcasing some of the best practices of NGOs and employers.

HELGE: A very hihg-touch theme with lots of FEELINGS involved. Problem solving in this area takes both DEDICATION and a lot of DOING. Seminars seldom lead to DOING.

The challenge is to build a winning team to commercialize 5T / 5D. It's a generic problem solving tool that can used to take out the complexity from chaos and confusion. The process of commercialization generates new insight about how to make it an easy to use tool for innovators and problem solvers in organizations and communities.

Here [Talous Sanomat http://www.taloussanomat.fi/tyo-ja-ko... ] is a great description about the decline of Nokia when the company moved away from value based leadershipt to rational and numbers based management. The article in Talous Sanomat is in Finnish language but is telling the importance of values, feelings (TUNNE).

Jokainen on
vastuussa ilmapiiristä

Luovuus vaatii luottamusta.

@visualradio "A network-supported open source money-making tool for users"? Sounds intriguing. What would be the exact business model, or is that what's being worked on here?

Anyway, I sure like the sound of it. And there's a real method with a long track record of success, it's a great place to start from. Sure, I can bring some productization & marketing know-how into the mix.

Is there a definitive place to find out more about 5D/5T, other than right here?

@jtunkelo The business model has to be differentiated, but we can start with consulting and organizational training.

  • take a look at price list above
  • one day 1 000 euro per consultant
  • recommend to have two consultants per group of 20 to 30 people
  • one could handle 10 persons
  • big training sessiosn becomes easily one to many lecturing
  • this is a learning by doing thing
  • the 5 days premium service 5 x 1 000 x number of trainers =
I see a cash-flow contunuation in the way users take advice from the virtual support team.
  • we can charge for distance support
  • stand-by support pricing could be 100 euro per hour (skype or chat)
5T has been a mindset and working model at KK-Net - Tacit Knowledge = hiljainen tieto - and we didn't dokument it.

Last year I realized it could attract much more users and trainers if the concept is made open.

*@HeikkiHallantie suggested we start to offer 5T training to organizations

When we used it for analyzis nobody had the need to know how we did it. The tool made our work easier. This "opening" is a game changing action and success depends on how the 5T trainers adopt it to generate new business.

I've dedicated a blog where I started to collect 5T material in Finnish language. The Digital Villages blog will be transformed to document 5D in English.

How to make 5T street smart

@ConnectIrmeli @paulswansen @jal @HeikkiHallantie @jtunkelo If we do this right, we can create the world's flattest consulting-problem-solving-training organisation. I've a case with a university in St. Petersburg where Digital Villages, microjobs, and 5T could have a role. We've a partner in Lahti (Paijat-Hame) but we could span a bigger area.

Russian comment: "Digital Villages concept can be interesting from informational provision of the project point of view (EcoTourism promotion, Global Enviromentalism promotion and Climate Change adaptation programmes)."

But there are some requirements for such ENPI project:

The aim of the South-East Finland - Russia ENPI CBC 2007-2013 Programme is
to promote cross-border cooperation across the Finnish-Russian border
between South Karelia, South Savo, Kymenlaakso, St.Petersburg, and the
Leningrad Region with the adjacent regions of Uusimaa, North Savo,
Pдijдt-Hдme and Republic of Karelia.

So, the Finnish partner should locates in the target regions OR the partner's activity should make a great contribution to above mentioned cross-border regions or have any unique experience.

The future of work: More folks are working outside of a conventional office than ever before, with telecommuting rising in popularity due to lower costs to the employer. New telecommuters are discovering what home workers have enjoyed all along — freedom from the daily commute is a real attitude adjuster. While some home workers require specific equipment that mandates only working at home, others are able to work just about anywhere. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/mobile-news/how-to-build...
