Wondering what would be best way to use Linux as host for several Windows versions for testing and development?

@d2s: People are raving about Fedora's implementation of KVM. I haven't tried it though.

Thanks for suggestions. Have to try something later. I have just been playing with VMWare and VirtualBox on Windows computers. Trying to migrate myself back to Linux world as I have been using it for years before coming back to Windows…

@d2s: What made you come back to Windows? Vista seems an unlikely catalyst?

Not that I would be using Vista for anything. Just started using Windows again after started studying at JAMK University of Applied Sciences year ago. Workstations are running WinXP under Novell Netware login management that certainly would benefit from improvement.

Problems with constantly changing from computer to computer (different courses are at different rooms) together with restrictions related to IT managing large scale computer network with little bit too much of limitations make it easier to have your own laptop. Limitations of restrictions are somewhat avoided on workstations by using virtual machines for teaching (currently mostly with Sun VirtualBox, previously with VMWare) as they allow students to install those things they need to study properly.

Problems appear when changing from class to class as virtual machines are somewhat computer specific (or at least that is what the teacher was saying; still, there might be way to make them work regardless of hardware at host computer). Problem is also that students have quite limited storage space for user profile at network server (at last time when I checked, limit was just 200Mb). That makes it impossible to transfer your virtual machine to other computer without having external HD or quite large memory stick.

Anyway, long explanation cut short: I would need constant environment that would go with me regardless of room where I'm studying + would travel with me.
