Irssi hilights taken into use. Winning line: /hilight -regexp \<Ne[vw]a.*

(hilight words beginning with Neva or Newa)

..and case doesn't matter, so newatin is ok. MidsentenceNeva however doesn't raise an alarm, as it should not.

Autolog was a bit tricky to tweak too, lots of basic instructions available but not the explanation of logging levels, for instance.

I hope these did the trick:
/set autolog_level "MSGS"
/set autolog ON

Do you have hilightwin.pl in use? I absolutely love it.

These worked:
/set autolog_level MSGS
/set autolog ON

That is, automatically log only private messages (opposed to the default ALL)

@macoute nope, pretty plain scriptwise.

Okay. Hilightwin does basically what you are trying to accomplish (imo), but logs those private messages to one separate window in irssi. So you can see all your private messages coming from all the channels while only watching one channel. And you dont even have to open different windows for querys.

That's a nifty feature, but I like to keep my private chats in separate windows. The autologging was more on the account of important tidbits of info getting saved in case of crashes and reboots.

Was that the script where you could set it to log N amount of lines pre- and post-trigger as well? I had one installed way back, but have forgotten what it was.

I've got 15 channels open and another 5 in private chats at almost any given time. I also might maintain IRC silence over the weekend, so that would definately save me some log searches.
