It looks like the API is still on the TODO-list. Until then we'll just have to use the browser, I suppose.

The browser seems to work well.

@tkojo Yes, but Mauku support would be even better ;)

Yes, Mauku support would absolutely nail it.

Sure the browser works, but is a bit slow for this. I tend to use m.qaiku.com on N810.

I looked at Mauku's twitter API code, and I think by tomorrow we will be able to serve all those API methods also on Qaiku.

So, how to move forward then? Should we contact Henrik, or maybe try and make a patch?

@bergie Henrik is a nice guy and I'm sure he can help if you ask really nicely.
But a developer always appreciates a patch...

Mailed @hhedberg today as the API docs are now out.

Mauku (together with a brand new Mauku Widget) will use a new D-BUS based backend in Fremantle. The initial version of the backend code with Twitter support will be out soon. I am sure Qaiku can be implemented on top of that in minutes. ;)

@hhedberg sounds great! Can you tell what Twitter API methods you currently utilize? We had some discussion about that with Gwibber author @segphault earlier

Also, will the new Mauku come to Diablo and Mer too, or only Fremantle?

Ah progress! This is very good news.

Just got first /statuses/friends_timeline.json from Qaiku using the new backend. It is really working! ;) The Twitter provider of the backend allows an user to modify the API root URL of a service. Also Identi.ca (and others) can be used that way.

Weird! Qaiku gives different friends_timelines depending on the authentication method. When authenticated via web pages (cookies), /statuses/friends_timeline.json contains my latest entry ("Just got first...") as expected, but when authenticated using the HTTP basic authentication (my client), /statuses/friends_timeline.json does not contain my latest entry. May be it is cached? However, I sent it over 15 minutes ago! Verfied the issue with the browser too.

Should I look for a bug tracker or something?

hhedberg

Oh well, and /statuses/friends.json is not yet implemented. So, that's the end of hacking with Qaiku for now. :)

I wonder when the developers of micro-blogging sites will change their viewpoint from web-centric to service-centric. I think that the public API should be designed and implemented first and then the web site just as a single client of that service (API). ;)

@hhedberg, i'd say that on issues or "wishlist" related to qaikus api it's always good to ping @bergie - we can make things work better quite fast =)

@hhedberg latest API has the methods you requested. Anything else missing?

@hhedberg Very nice! Can we expect support in the diablo version too?

@hhedberg cool! Really looking forward to the new architecture.

@xfade, I am focusing on the Fremantle version (Mauku 2.0) now. The old Mauku 0.x is not maintained anymore (at least not by me). However, the Mauku 2.0 is still using GTK+ and Hildon, so it should be easy to port to Diablo too.

ilkkalaukkanen

@hhedberg, where is the SCM for 2.0? I'd really like to try and get it running on Diablo.

jtirila

Oh, I logged on to Qaiku for the first in months just to find out that a lot has happened lately. @hhedberg & @ilkkalaukkanen, I'll definitely use Mauku 2.0 on Diablo as soon as it's out as a simple install.

Wops...busted. I'm here when Mauku is here :-) Looking VERY much forward on that. My whining about qaiku not having an api is about to end...and yes...@hhedberg SOA is the key :-)
