Use org_routamc_positioning_user::get_location() to get user's location and org_routamc_positioning_user::set_location($spot) to update it.

Works with both authenticated users (stored in position log) and anonymous (stored in session).

There are already automated tools for getting location from IP (hostip and geoplugin supports), and from W3C geolocation API in browsers like Firefox and Mobile Safari.

@bergie great ...
twitter announced it yesterday, and StatusNet just released version 0.9 with location support.
I'm using an app mobile app for android (speced by me, and coded by @macno) for StatusNet which supports sending and reading Location.
Would you guys want to port it to Qaiku?

@BUGabundo yeah, I'll try to implement the Twitter location API for Qaiku soon.

@BUGabundo considered that Qaiku supports exactly same location API as Twitter (and I guess StatusNet) such apps could be made to work by just changing API URLs (and maybe a little additional tweaking)

@BUGabundo I've got no personal interest in Android so I'm unlikely to do anything about this. But if Mustard developers are interested in adding Qaiku support I'll be happy to help on #Qaiku-api. Ping @smallone at least was very much into his Android phone?

@bergie i'll ask @macno to jump in here, and see if he wants to extend support

The same location APIs are now also available in Ragna MidCOM. Blogged about it. Ping @reisba
