Open innovation culture mentioned, research done with M.Castells
Physical concentrations do matter.

I wonder why there seems to be no significant scientific centers In japan even when it was the most important center of innovation.

Himanen mentions "cosmos theory" while introducing Standford & silicon valley

troppone commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (fi)

Cosmos theory: whenever people are excited about something, the cosmos will send along superscpetical people who say it ain't gonna happen

i wonder if most VC's invest in companies within driving distance from their office, why do we talk about GLOBAL VC?

ekurvine commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (fi)

Emotional energy mentioned, this is one reason why we still need physical, not just virtual collaboration

@troppone "Drunk engineers" helps me to understand the innovativeness of Finns ;) That's why speak about chemistry when building teams and organizations.

Stanford = Engineering + business + design...but NOW social sciences becoming more important

"where can we be a spike" is the question?

@troppone i wonder what the strong links are. to my understanding money does not travel very far.

quantity of people does not decide where innovation comes from!

Research questions:

How to innovativelu combine design & art with mobile tech?

What social factors are driving the social web.

How to create an experience people want? How to create a community people want to belong to?

troppone commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (fi)

troppone

"Feel" and "usability" important selection criteria.

Creativity > community of enrichment > confidence (vs. fear)

When in fear, you always naturally play safe.

troppone commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (fi)

Gnomet

Also true about hurry. When you don't have much time, you play safe. (You also get the things done faster usually, but there is less space and time for innovations.)

Gnomet commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (en)

Kusti

Back to the stuff Pekka knows best :) seen this video probably 10 times. @ekurvine i agree, design stuff is not really his turf. Obviously good points, but I think Messina and Engeström were a step ahead when talking about openness and apple's problems with that.

The next winner will be the one who combines engineering, business and design with openness and sustainable development.

Jazz is overused as a metaphor imho. Need a Gen Y example! E.g. What's the name of that one guy,,,Girltalk. Something like that is needed to get the message through.

one more thing...we need the DREAM

troppone commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (en)

The answers are right ahead of us - BUT we need to think about the right questions!

ekurvine

@troppone is social the different themes that you combine?

ekurvine commented on posted to #seminaarikannu 02.10.2009 (en)

Gnomet

Beethoven was not probably using open innovation.. But maybe we can get to high results by making innovating social, even if we are not geniuses as single persons. :)

@simison you need to stand up now and announce your ignorance ;)

I think, Pekka hit the nail, social media is "lost in the translation" at least in Finland.
