Olen asunut ulkomailla ja tiedän, miten tärkeää on "oman kotipiirin" eli yhteisön löytäminen. 1990-luvulla ei vielä ollut Sosiaalista Mediaa.

My first impression:

Social Media as a means of social engineering and integrated. I think SoMe is seldom used to solve socioeconomic problems.

Oh @priio you're so fast and organized :) Great if we can get the Qaiku experts to join. @priio, we will be Qaikuing in Finnish though...?

so this happens tomorrow - what are you planning to do?

@pe3 This is a get-together of interested and interesting parties. We are workshopping/group working with the goal of bringing up a number of problems/issues and potential solutions (service ideas). We have a few in mind, but would like the target group or their representatives participate, (e.g) to bring up views we could never have thought of. One of these ideas will be developed further - quite soon!

among the ideas so far, social bookmarking and translation or interpretation with some language/nationality indicators. (to tackle the issue of getting news/information in your own language)

@troppone: Qaikuing in Finnish is fine I guess, but I wanted to start the thread in English. (Sounds a bit better, when speaking about immigrant media...)

@priio I'd like to come tomorrow, but if I don't make it there, I'll check stuff out from Qaiku
