@mace furthermore they're claiming the law requires them to do this. The venue in question is Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica Sapienza Università di Roma

This is ridiculous, only in Italy. You know if Italy wasn't in EU already, some argue it would have a hard time getting in. Does anyone have facts what the law really says about this, or are they making it up?

@mace I'm quite sure they're just making that up. There are open and commercial WiFi hotspots in this country too. And on the previous visit to different university last spring we didn't need to do any of this silliness.
